Wystawa „SZ ON SZUM” to site-specific instalacja dźwiękowa i przestrzenna, eksplorująca napięcie między bezpieczeństwem a wolnością, izolacją a odkryciem, kontrolą a doświadczeniem. Ada Kobusiewicz i Christian F. Schiller eksperymentują z przestrzenią Galerii EL przekształcając ją w monumentalny labirynt wykonany z miedzianych kabli. Artyści zapraszają widzów do fizycznego i sensorycznego przejścia przez struktury labiryntu i elektrycznego napięcia.

Trzy główne elementy wystawy to labirynt, miedź i dźwięk.

Labirynt od wieków symbolizuje zarówno poszukiwanie sensu, jak i ryzyko zagubienia. To figura dwuznaczna – jednocześnie ogranicza i prowadzi ku oświeceniu. W tej instalacji zyskuje dodatkowy wymiar – jest strukturą przewodzącą dźwięk i elektryczność, przestrzenią aktywną, która oddziałuje na odwiedzających nie tylko wizualnie, ale też poprzez dotyk i dźwięk.

Miedź, jako materiał, pełni tu kluczową rolę. Jest przewodnikiem energii, medium przesyłu informacji i bodźców, elementem łączącym fizyczność z niewidzialnym. Jej elektryczne napięcie tworzy subtelną granicę między przestrzenią a ciałem, przypominając o nieustannym balansowaniu między bezpieczeństwem a ryzykiem, kontrolą a intuicją, bezpieczeństwem a wolnością.

Dźwięk – wypełnia przestrzeń wystawy, wzmacniając poczucie dezorientacji i immersji. To dźwięk obecny wszędzie, kojący i zarazem przytłaczający. Przenika całą instalację, wyznaczając rytm odbioru, a jednocześnie sugerując refleksję nad nadmiarem bodźców i informacyjnym szumem współczesności.

„SZ ON SZUM” to eksperyment z percepcją, w którym odbiorca nie jest tylko widzem, lecz częścią instalacji. To doświadczenie, w którym granice między dźwiękiem, materią i ciałem zostają zatarte.

 

Ada Kobusiewicz – polska artystka wizualna, na stałe mieszkająca w Grazu, w Austrii. Studiowała na Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Granadzie/SP w latach 2005-2011 (Master Produkcja i Badania w Sztuce Współczesnej) i na Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Nowym Sadzie/SRB (Master z Projektowania Światła). Od 2017 roku doktoryzuje się na Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Bilbao/SP, praca doktorancka „Sztuka w przestrzeni publicznej: legalna, nielegalna, alegalna”. Swoje instalacje tworzy głównie w przestrzeni publicznej, pracując ze światłem i przestrzenią.
Christian F. Schiller – austriacki kompozytor eksperymentalny. Studiował na Uniwersytecie Muzyki i Sztuk Scenicznych w Grazu/AT w latach 1998-2004 u Gerda Kühra, Younghi Pagh-Paan i Georga Friedricha Haasa. Realizuje wiele różnych projektów w formie konceptualnych instalacji dźwiękowych, koncertów, spektakli i współpracy z różnymi międzynarodowymi artystami i zespołami.

Projekt jest częścią Festiwalu BWA Europa organizowanym i współfinansowanym przez Narodowe Centrum Kultury i Uniwersytet Komisji Edukacji Narodowej w Krakowie w ramach obchodów Polskiej prezydencji w Radzie Unii Europejskiej.

The exhibition „SZ ON SZUM” is a site-specific sound and spatial installation that explores the tension between safety and freedom, isolation and discovery, control and experience. Ada Kobusiewicz and Christian F. Schiller experiment with the space of the EL Gallery, transforming it into a monumental labyrinth made of copper cables. The artists invite viewers to physically and sensorially pass through the labyrinth structures and electric tension.

The three main elements of the exhibition are the labyrinth, copper, and sound.

For centuries, the labyrinth has symbolized both the search for meaning and the risk of getting lost. It is a dual figure – it simultaneously restricts and leads towards enlightenment. In this installation, it gains an additional dimension – it is a structure that conducts sound and electricity, an active space that impacts visitors not only visually but also through touch and sound.

Copper, as a material, plays a key role here. It is a conductor of energy, a medium for transmitting information and stimuli, an element connecting the physical with the invisible. Its electric tension creates a subtle boundary between space and the body, reminding us of the constant balancing between safety and risk, control and intuition, security and freedom.

Sound fills the exhibition space, enhancing the sense of disorientation and immersion. It is a sound present everywhere, both soothing and overwhelming. It permeates the entire installation, setting the rhythm of reception, while also suggesting reflection on the excess of stimuli and the informational noise of contemporary life.

„SZ ON SZUM” is an experiment with perception, where the audience is not just a viewer but a part of the installation. It is an experience in which the boundaries between sound, matter, and the body are blurred.

Ada Kobusiewicz – A Polish visual artist, permanently living in Graz, Austria. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Granada/SP from 2005-2011 (Master’s in Production and Research in Contemporary Art) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad/SRB (Master’s in Light Design). Since 2017, she has been pursuing a doctorate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bilbao/SP with the dissertation „Art in Public Space: Legal, Illegal, and Alegal.” Her installations are primarily created in public spaces, working with light and space.
Christian F. Schiller – An Austrian experimental composer. He studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz/AT from 1998-2004 under Gerd Kühra, Younghi Pagh-Paan, and Georg Friedrich Haas. He carries out various projects in the form of conceptual sound installations, concerts, performances, and collaborations with various international artists and ensembles.

The project is part of the BWA Europa Festival organized and co-financed by the National Centre for Culture and the University of the Commission of National Education in Krakow, as part of the celebrations of the Polish presidency in the Council of the European Union.
